GCSE Physics Paper 1 and Paper 2 assess different sections of the specification. The exact topic split depends on the exam board, so students should use this guide alongside their official specification rather than assuming every board follows the same structure.
Both papers assess more than factual recall. Students must apply equations, interpret data, understand practical methods and explain physical processes using accurate scientific language.

Although AQA divides the main topics between the two papers, Paper 2 questions may still draw on relevant knowledge and skills from Paper 1. Students should not forget equations, practical skills or fundamental principles after finishing Paper 1.
Pearson Edexcel and OCR do not organise GCSE Physics content in exactly the same way as AQA.
Edexcel students should use the official specification to identify the content assigned to Physics Paper 1 and Physics Paper 2.

OCR offers more than one GCSE Science route, so a generic OCR Physics checklist may be wrong for a student’s qualification.

The first familiar equation is not always the correct one. Students should identify the quantities given and the quantity being calculated before selecting a formula.

A weak improvement such as “use better equipment” is usually too vague.
